Korfball क्या है? — वो Sport जो India में 45 साल से है, पर किसी ने देखा नहीं
एक ऐसा sport जिसमें लड़के और लड़कियाँ एक ही team में खेलते हैं।
एक ऐसा sport जो India में 1979 से है — यानी IPL से भी 29 साल पहले से।
एक ऐसा sport जिसे Government of India ने officially recognize किया है।
और एक ऐसा sport जिसका नाम आपने शायद आज पहली बार सुना।
यह Korfball है।
और यह India की सबसे underrated sports story है।
पहले यह समझें — Korfball है क्या?
Korfball एक team sport है जो Netherlands में 1902 में बना। इसे बनाया था Nico Broekhuysen ने — एक Dutch teacher ने — जो चाहते थे कि लड़के और लड़कियाँ बराबरी से एक साथ खेलें।
और यही इस sport की सबसे बड़ी खासियत है।
दुनिया में कोई भी mainstream team sport ऐसा नहीं है जहाँ men और women एक ही team में, एक ही court पर, एक ही rules से खेलते हों।
Cricket में नहीं। Football में नहीं। Basketball में नहीं। Kabaddi में नहीं।
सिर्फ Korfball में।
Game कैसे खेला जाता है — Simply Explained
Korfball का court 40 मीटर × 20 मीटर का होता है। दो zones होते हैं — attack zone और defence zone।
हर team में 8 players होते हैं — 4 men और 4 women। इनमें से 4 attack zone में और 4 defence zone में रहते हैं।
सबसे important rule — defence हमेशा same gender के बीच होती है। यानी एक male player सिर्फ male को defend करेगा, female player सिर्फ female को।
Goal करने के लिए एक basket में ball डालनी होती है — जो basketball की तरह होती है लेकिन बिना backboard के, और जो post के ऊपर straight लगी होती है।
हर दो goals के बाद attack और defence teams switch होती हैं।
No tackling। No physical contact। Pure skill, positioning, और teamwork।
यह game जितना simple लगता है — उतना ही strategic है।
Did you know — Korfball को International Olympic Committee ने 1993 में officially recognize किया था। यह sport Olympics में आने की कोशिश कर रहा है — और India उसका हिस्सा हो सकता है।
India और Korfball — एक रिश्ता जो आप नहीं जानते
यहाँ वो fact है जो आपको genuinely surprise करेगा।
India, Asia का सबसे पुराना Korfball playing country है।
1979 में जब यह sport India में आया — तब China ने इसे नहीं खेला था। Chinese Taipei ने नहीं। South Korea ने नहीं। Australia ने नहीं।
India पहला था।
आज यह sport India के 27 states में खेला जाता है। हर state की अपनी Korfball Association है। Senior, Junior, Sub-Junior — सभी categories में National Championships होती हैं। Inter-University और Inter-School championships भी regularly होती हैं।
Korfball Federation of India यानी KFI — Delhi में headquartered है और actively काम कर रही है।
और June 2026 में — Korfball Premier League launch होने वाली है। India का पहला professional Korfball league।
यह सब हो रहा है — और ज़्यादातर India को पता नहीं।
Gender Equality का सबसे Practical Model
India में women in sports की बात बहुत होती है।
PV Sindhu को celebrate करते हैं। Mary Kom को। Mithali Raj को।
लेकिन यह सब individual achievements हैं।
Korfball एक ऐसा system है जहाँ gender equality rule में built-in है। Structure में है। खेल के DNA में है।
कोई अलग से quota नहीं। कोई reservation नहीं। बस एक simple rule — team में हमेशा 4 men और 4 women।
एक लड़की उतनी ही ज़रूरी है जितना एक लड़का। एक के बिना team अधूरी है।
यह model India के लिए कितना relevant है — यह बताने की ज़रूरत नहीं।
तो फिर यह sport popular क्यों नहीं हुआ?
यह सवाल ज़रूरी है।
और इसका जवाब सिर्फ एक नहीं है।
Media coverage नहीं मिली — क्योंकि cricket और football ने सारी oxygen ले ली।
Funding नहीं मिली — क्योंकि sponsors वहाँ जाते हैं जहाँ eyeballs हैं।
School curriculum में नहीं आया — क्योंकि जो पहले से popular था, वही पढ़ाया गया।
और सबसे बड़ी वजह — कोई नहीं जानता था। तो कोई demand भी नहीं करता था।
लेकिन यह circle तोड़ा जा सकता है।
और वो circle तोड़ने की शुरुआत होती है — awareness से।
